We are recruiting for a Professional Standards Department Business Support Manager, in this role you will provide effective and professional support in all business areas to the Head of Department and as part of the Senior Management team.
You will act as the delegated authority as detailed in the Home Office Guidance to review and assess all complaints received within Professional Standards and ensure that they are appropriately dealt with in accordance relevant legislation. Manage, develop and motivate a team of administrative, clerical, and typing staff to ensure standardised working practices and the maintenance of high performance levels and provide advice to various parties both within and outside of the force on public complaints and police misconduct procedures.

Main tasks will include:

Review and assess all complaints/correspondence received within the department and ensure that they are correctly recorded as required by relevant
legislation and guidance, assess and grade all PSD investigations in line with departmental policy and record decisions in policy books, identify all cases that may need referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and bring to the attention of the Senior Management team to ensure timely referral.

As well as provide monthly performance data and liaise with District Chief Inspectors to ensure that complaints are dealt with in a timely manner and in line with performance indicators, organise the holding of Misconduct tribunals including the preparation of allegation sheets, recruitment of panel members, venue and ensuring that the Guidance in respect of Complaints and Misconduct Procedures is complied with, provide senior management to a team of administrative staff, ensuring that high standards are maintained; and representing them at the Senior Management team meetings and provide specialist advice to police officers of all ranks and police staff on complaints and misconduct procedures.

Additional Requirements

The post holder must be prepared to attend internal and external training courses as necessary in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

The post holder must have access to reliable transport as some travel both within and outside of the County is required.

Please note the role is permanently based at Mottisfont Court, Winchester, but you may be required to work at another work location on a temporary basis while roof repairs on Mottisfont Court take place.

QCF Level 5 or equivalent work experience that brings the postholder to a comparable level
At least 2 years management experience of managing a team. Effective in the production of written and statistical reports.
