Forensic Submissions Officer - HC1902
We are recruiting for a Forensic Submissions Officer, in this role you will be responsible for checking, authorising and validating all forensic submissions and provide a range of administrative services for the Scientific Services Department (SSD).
Key tasks will include:
Answer queries and directing other enquiries on to other members of SSD staff as appropriate. To review and provide advice and act as a point of contact to Investigators, Crime Scene Investigators (CSI’s), Forensic Service Providers (FSP’s), and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), supervise quality of and authorisation and rejection, within agreed financial limits, of forensic items to be submitted from the force to various internal and external forensic providers in relation to practicality, forensic potential and cost effectiveness and effectively and accurately cost submissions in terms of prices lists set by forensic providers and to check and monitor expenditure on forensic services.
As well as take responsibility for DNA mouth swabs, checking, processing and continuity of DNA, PACE, volunteer and vulnerable person samples, take responsibility for researching and analysing various computer records to include RMS & PNC to inform the National DNA database of any updates regarding samples held. The advice given will be followed by the National DNA Database (NDNAD) and will directly affect the integrity of the database.
