Working from our Beech Hurst offices (Andover), you’ll join our small and friendly Internal Audit team providing an independent review of the Council’s processes and procedures (financial and other) and assurance on the effectiveness of governance and risk management across the Council. The Internal Audit Team operates as part of a successful shared management arrangement with another Hampshire Council.
This position offers the opportunity for career progression and development supported by funded study for an appropriate professional qualification under the Council’s post entry training scheme. The starting point within the grade will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
You will be either:
- A member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA) part qualified or have a degree in business/finance or
- A member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), qualified to level 3 or above or have equivalent experience.
You will, initially under supervision, assist in delivering elements of the current Internal Audit Plan. You will have the opportunity to develop auditing skills as you deal with a wide range of diverse operations, including risk/systems based audits, and probity reviews. This will include agreeing actions for improvements in financial and other controls, advising managers and staff on financial regulation, supporting management on projects as well as assisting the Internal Audit Team in special investigations as required.
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in business and finance and a willingness to learn. Effective communication skills both oral and written, motivated, flexible and the ability to work in a professional manner within a team are essential. You’ll also be proficient in the use of Information Technology.
