The role involves patrolling the harbour by boat, enforcing Harbour Authority Bye-laws and collecting fees and dues, plus working with river users to conserve the harbour’s environment and to promote safe, seamanlike practices.

You will be required to work in all weather conditions on a shift pattern including evenings and weekends. You must be a confident boat handler, ideally with a leisure boating background, with a reasonable level of fitness including the ability to swim and to undertake outdoor physical work.

The role requires good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised. You will need to remain calm and authoritative when faced with challenging situations.

You will be required to demonstrate proficiency in boat handling and local knowledge of the harbour, along with basic administration and IT skills. You must hold a minimum qualification of RYA Power Boat Level 2 or equivalent, a VHF Licence and a valid First Aid qualification.
