Area Director, Children’s Services HCC2783086
We’ve raised the bar. Can you take it higher?
This is a high profile opportunity to take charge of all operational aspects of children’s social care, early help and related services in the eastern half of Hampshire. We’ll have high expectations of you as you work closely with the senior management team, reporting to the Assistant Director, in order to improve outcomes for children. After all, that’s what you’d expect from a successful team: in our last three Ofsted inspections we have been rated ‘outstanding’ for leadership and management and have been in the top three per cent of Children’s Services for more than ten years. We want you to help us drive Hampshire Children’s Services to be ‘outstanding’ across the board.
You would be joining us at a very exciting time of transformation. As one of the government’s Partners in Practice, we’ve embarked upon an exciting journey in reshaping our children’s social work offer including developing, in partnership with the University of Winchester a sound, evidence based practice model that will underpin our new multi-disciplinary, family focussed service. That model is designed to create the conditions for excellent social work practice to flourish. We’re already investing in new mobile technology for all of our social workers and over the next 2 years will be investing in over 100 more social workers. We want you to inspire and lead your team of District Managers to transform social care practice and exceed all targets. Within this high performance culture, you will promote best practice and, in doing so, involve young people and children in decision-making and collaborate with agencies. It’s the chance to tackle some of our most challenging, high-priority areas head-on.
Known for your expertise, you will have substantial experience of managing services designed to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. Your impressive professional and senior management track record will be backed by a degree and professional qualification. Strong on the management of people, strategic projects, budgets and change, you will have a sound understanding of the issues facing children’s services in the current financial climate.
Hampshire is a great place to live for most of our children, but for some of our most vulnerable children there is still plenty of work to be done. We’re committed to achieving the very best outcomes for all of the children and young people we are supporting – and you can make it happen.
